Arrow I collapsed this morning :o

Around 11pm last night, i got a massive sore throat from nowhere, really strange, huge amounts of flegm just appeared and my nose started running

i went to bed at 11.30 and fell asleep, i figured i would try and get to sleep before what ever it was i had, got into full swing

12.00 the G/F came home from work, woke me and we had a brief chat about the days events, nose and throat were no better or worse then before, figured it was just a cold or something (i never get colds )

3.30am i woke up REALLY fast with a runny nose, stumbled to the ensuite bathroom, had a quick ****, and then blew my nose really hard (still half asleep) loads of crap came out, a surprising amount, so i gave it another go, started blowing my nose again, next thing i know i can hear my G/F ringing an ambulance

apparently i just keeled over and cracked my head off the towel rail

she tried to bring me around, got nowhere, and rang the ambulance, while she was talking to the bloke on the phone (i can remember hearing her say "he has just passed out and hit his head" ) apparently i opened my eyes, started gasping for air clutching my throat, and then said "i am ok" (i cant remember saying this but not clutching my throat with my eyes wide open total recal style ) i cant remember getting back up either, i came around sitting back on the bed, with a bit of a headache

i have a theory, i am not a doctor, but if i am still half asleep, there must not be a lot of oxygen in the bloodstream, if i blow my nose really hard in this state, can it make you fient/pass out/become an old **** who needs put in a home ?

feeling a little bit groggy at the moment, head does not really "hurt" just feels a bit confused
i used to sleepwalk quite a bit when younger, not sure if this is related?

Whatever it is Micky, hope you recover from it soon.

Could it not be stress from recent events?

its been a few years since i had my blood pressure done (3 i think?>) it was ok then.

i do think i got up to fast TBH and the throat and nose is a coincidence.
had a bacon and egg sandwich this morning from asda (stuck at work) feeling a bit better, not as confused, i was going to open up late (since i sacked the bloody saturday lad ) but then i remembered i had to be here first thing to give the accountant my vat return stuff

Get checked as soon as possible just to rule out something like a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack) - sounds like you are trying to justify it by it's not really that normal.

Sorry to hear about all that. It could have been an effect of blocked sinuses or fluid in the inner ear-that has happened to me. Also it is true about low blood pressure after getting out of bed quickly, that has also happened to me.

Hope you are better anyway.

Micky, you are ignoring the good advice given to you here.

It is probably nothing, but **** the polyfiller and go to the bloody docs man

You scared your GF in to calling an ambulance. I've been in the reverse situation and it is extremely worrying - get a proper medical ok for her sake, if nothing else. Don't be a macho plonker.

Glad you're obviously feeling better Maybe you can get bacon sandwiches from Asda on the NHS

Richard.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune - you may want to consider that having a blackout may invalidate your car insurance as your contract will require you to notify your insurer and I believe the DVLA also have stipulations regarding blackouts and retaining permission to drive.

Something you need to check out as both the ambulance, hospital and Snet are now aware of the incident.

You may be fine with a single blackout - I would suggest checking.

Yeah, I do think blowing your nose quite hard, and repeatedly can make you faint. I have a few sinous problems, and its almost happened to me a few times.

I'm no doctor so I cannot start to explain how it happens, but you are more prone to those effects when you are tired.

Just take it steady the next time you have a nose full of snot

sometimes when drifting off i do a massive "twitch thing" right before i go to sleep,

The authors concluded that mechanical factors (strong reduction of blood reflux to the heart) in combination with a reduced threshold of the brain for developing ischemia-related arrhythmic myoclonic jerks were responsible for Valsalva-induced syncope in the patient
this stuff is intresting

If you're diet has been a little deficient and you have been under stress this can lower the immune levels. This can cause you to come down with an infection akin to fever/flu. Couple this with low blood pressure and a blackout is highly likely. Did you feel sick when you came to and were you sweating?

nope, didnt feel sick, a little confused, suppose that is down to banging my head, no sweating either, within 10 mins i was back in bed snuggled up to the G/F

slept fine after that

the flu/cold thing is just about gone, slight niggly throat, and a runny nose, i never get sick, which is quite strange, but i have been under a mountain of secret stress recently, so i just dunno, the diet has took a hammering the past 2 weeks as the G/F has been training for a new job on lateshifts and i have been doing all the cooking myself ie: pizza and kebabs

had a nice home made ocean pie tonight with prawns and salmon fillet/broccoli, so back on track

Stress and poor diet is probably the cause of the bug. Take it a little easier and get some good wholesome grub down you.
