For a trailer, can I still buy sticky black numbers and adhesive yellow background, or do I need to get a 'normal' numberplate? If the latter, what info do I need to show to get the numberplate?

You can still get the numbers & blank plates at my local shop, Thompsons of Macclesfield
but they are marked, 'not for use on public highway', yeah right![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
If yours doesn't sell them anymore, and you can't be arsed sorting your docs out (V5 & both licence parts from memory), just ask them to do you a reflective yellow sign with your reg on
Most places will do this, but advise you that you can't use it on a motor vehicle.

This is what I find mysterious. A trailer doesn't have a V5 obviously. A driving licence doesn't relate to a particular vehicle, and certainly not to a particular trailer
A numberplate made from stick on characters is quite adequate for identification purposes on something used only a few miles a year and which is unlikely to be speeding, so why all the fuss?
A criminal (me?
) would buy the sticky letters to make his false plate, if these aren't banned then what's the point?

On a similar line - does anybody know where you can get a caddy for a number plate? I pull our trailer with both cars so need to swap the number plate around, ideally I want a slotted channel affair where I can just slip the number plate in and out - any truck drivers will know what I mean as it's the same kind of thing used on truck trailers
