last night noticed one behaving odd, had a proper look and he had huge chunks out of his bacck, couldnt swim was in real trouble so had to do the decent thing, quite gutted

so what do i do now? ive just got one big pirahna, i dont think i can add any more?

I was going to suggest that but then thought that the lack of water would probably kill it first ! Hardly humane again.

Hold it still in the water, lop off it's head with some scissors, then let the other one eat it Fast, pain free and a meal for the other, result !

Yep - as has already been said, they don't die pain-free. In fact - not to rub it in but they actually have many nerves below the surface of their scales and if you put them in the freezer, they die in excruciating agony as the nerves become damaged and they suffocate.

Please don't do that anymore!

The most 'painless' way is to use a sharp knife to sever the spinal column just behind the head. A boot and a patio would probably be equally painless but a bit more messy!

Whats this "put it to sleep" crap, its not asleep its DEAD, its an ex-pirahna. You mean you had to kill a pirahna last night. Stamping on the damn thing didnt put it to sleep, it isnt going to wake up now its a flat fish ....... why not just let the other one eat it? Save you feeding it for a while.......

The way we used to kill makarel when feathering for them was to stick your finger in it's mouth and bend the head back to snap it's neck. That's probably the best way, try it with the next Pirahna if it gets ill

Sorry for your loss. I think a few people are poking fun at your expense due to the somewhat unusual pet and method of putting it down, but we'd all acknowledge that loosing any pet is hard -regardless of what species it happened to be- and that having to do it yourself must have been pretty heart-breaking.

Feel better soon.

Regards,

Ns04
