Window TAX !!!
I **** you not, I had someone in work today who lives up in the nice rolling hills of wales somewhere, that has been told by the council that if they do not want to be charged "window tax" then they must put up a 6' fence to block the countryside view.
This will be implemented if Labour stay in power (apparently)...
"Daylight ******* robbery" !!!!
(pun well and truely intended)
That typically british tax law was repealed in 1851. So WTF is going on.
Already had a little search on the net and not found anything.

It's coming soon to all of us. Being trialed in NI at the moment. Your council tax will be set according to how 'desirable' your house is. Views, gardens, etc will all be part of the equation as will interrnal features such as en-suites etc. Special inspectors will have the power to enter your property to make these assessments with punitive penalties (initial fines of £1000) for any refusing to grant them access.
If you live somewhere nice - it's going to cost you. Thanks once again to New Labour.

this country is going mad, surely they cannot bring in council tax depending on how nice your house is.

Just wait - it won't be long before we'll all be forced to wear a spacesuit type helmet to meter how much air we're breathing so we can be charged for that too.
Still, look on the bright side, the future tax return is going to be a lot simpler to complete...
Step 1 : In box 1, write the amount you earnt in the last year
Step 2 : Write a cheque for the amount in box 1, and send it along with this form to the Inland Revenue

This post was in relation to future ID card protestors but of course all dissenters from the NL way will be fair game.

I'll fight this one all the way - It is an invasion of privacy that I'll not accept in a million years. If I pay to improve my home I have paid tax on everything I have bought. I'll NOT pay again if my neighbours have cheap taste!!!

You all know what to do next election, though the Tories dont seem much better I cant see them pushing this tax through, ID cards, black boxes in your car , DNA data base, finger print data base. bugs on your bin measuring your rubbish........... what next. No wonder there was a record number of Brits leaving this year. .........................Surely there will be some riots, remember the poll tax fiasco.

Personally I'd prefer to pay local tax based on what I used and the quality of service. If the quality of service is sub standard then you get a rebate. Actually get the councils working for us like they are supposed to!

Property details: “double-glazed”, “conservatory”, “extension to dwelling”, “porch”, “utility room”, “garden shed”, “balcony”, “patio”, “central heating”, “thatch roof”,
It's also interesting that this "could" encourage people to remove central heating and double glazing and thus add to the greenhouse gas problem the government at trying to stem.

I was in Sweden with friends earlier this year, and I believe they have a tax relating to the view from your windows (specifically if you are overlooking the sea/water).
