In their infinite wisdom, my girlfriend's employers have decided to have an "alternative" xmas do this year, with the theme of 80's fancy dress.
As per usual, we are getting rapidly closer to the event in question, and she has not got a clue of what to go as. Despite being three weeks away, paranoia has set in, and competitive spirit is alive and well within the female workforce.
She would be fine if it was a 90's theme as she would make a very convincing Lara Croft, but sadly this is ten years too late.
So, as I wish to avoid three weeks of "I cant go like that any more because......." conversations after scouring the fancy dress shops for hours, have any of you got any good suggestions?

i used to dress alternatively in the 80's... I often got called Mary from Eastenders ( ie the punk)
easy to back comb the hair.... spray some coloured hairspray into it... use eyeliner around the lips ( preferably black) and accentuate the eyeliner up to the sides of the face.
put on some black clothing... or an old t-shirt.... rip it up a bit...or scrawl some grafitti on it...
err ok... here's an old piccie ( taken approx 20 years ago)...i'm the one on left... the other one is my late auntie who wanted me to help her with her fancy dress for an xmas party!

You could go as Geroge Michael and Andrew Ridgely.....
Adam Ant and one of his band.......
She could go as Madonna and you could go as Michael Jackson ala Thriller....
Or you could get one of those suits with two people on either shoulder and go as Five Star......
Spandau Ballet, just some white suits and a quiff hairdo each....
Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart, Eurythimics, http://www.ultra-pop.org/images/band/eurythmics.jpg
You could go as a yuppie, or even Del and Rodney if one of you is significantly taller than the other.....
I always find the best thing with facny dress is to try and do the outfit yourself, rather than just buy one from the fancy dress shop like everyone else, so a good root round yours or your mates wardrobes, or the charity shop, or eBay, will provide some classy threads!
