wasnt quite new year, but last year me and the missus went to gatecrasher classics in sheffield. to say it was the best night ever off my life is an understatement. i shook hands with Agnelli & Nelson and had a quick natter to John '00' Fleming too. the lazers were mind blowing and as for some of the tunes that were droped... shed a few tears myself, very emotional night for a DJ like me. doubt that night will ever be beaten.
keep your eyes and ears peeled, and sign upto loads of dance websites for newsletters etc. i do and money pending try to get wherever i can.

I couldn't care less about house, it's not my thing. I'd never go so far to call it sh*t, because it's down to personal preference, even though I'm fairly heavily involved in trance.

Not once have I touched drugs.
If people feel they need to use them to make their night, they're in the wrong place.
Keep quoting the mainstream, pop trance rubbish all you like, that's not my thing.

There's a greater emphasis on house, true, but you can't state that trance isn't popular. As commercial and meaningless as it is, trancers still continue to top the DJ Mag poll.
The guy I work for/with (who produces and spins progressive trance - if I must label it) has had over 150+ worldwide dates this year alone (if not more), and we're talking trips to Europe/America/Asia most weekends. If trance is dead and buried, how does he manage that?

For many, myself included (from time to time), it's not. Yeah, there's the commercial side which isn't my thing, but I tend to judge the music on how it sounds to me and the vibe I get from it.
There's no theory behind making music that everyone's going to fall in love with, it's evidently so different for each individual.
Some people love trance, others hate it, and I have no problem with that. It's the same with everything in life - it boils down to opinion and that can never be wrong.

agree with g-star on this. ive been djing for 4 years now, not professionally, and mr sti has a point also. the amount of pop trance and these "clubland" albums give proper underground trance a bad name. but as for being in the past, sti your wrong on that one. house music will always be more predominant, especially in ibiza, as bar the surge of trance classics in 99/2000 its always been house orientated. all dance music originated from house, whether it be disco from the 70s, 80s/90s chicago and detriot etc.
but, there are more commercial house tracks floating about in the charts then there will ever be trance, because house is bigger, so its not a fair argument. i personally mix trance music round 130...140bpm, never ever touched drugs (ok maybe paracetamol after a few bevvies the night before), and certainly dont pill pop from the local gary dealer.
house is more off a sexy funk based music, while trance is melodic based, something ive always appreciated more. il admit i spin house sometimes, as i like the crossover tracks that are borderline house/proggressive trance, and the classic "dance songs" from the mid nighties with house basslines and trancey synths and melodies.
like everything on this site its personal preference, and il admit the day of the superclub for trance is over, but christ theres a lot of smaller nights going on if you know where to look, and im not on about the ****ty "dj sammy" or "lasgo/ian van dahl/" vocal poop.
what about the likes of armin, adam white, etc who do regular euphoria nights etc? now thats dance music...
my tuppence
