Anyone on here ever done this?

Just been watching the highlights on TV and seen quite a few scoobs...

Looks awesome... although with the £28,000 entrance fee i guess it should be!

Tell us your war stories if you have

I thought they were rather generous allowing 2 for £28k :|

Im just interested in the stories that come along with it... interesting people entering a car of the same value as the entrance fee though!!

you wont even get on it if you had the money, its for friends and friends of friends only,

the cannon ball run is better, only 3k for car and 2 drivers, and it starts in london

The Gumaball was cool when it first started, have you seen the latest one? I had to turn it off after 5 mins, full of self obsessive tossers not car enthusiasts oh unless you count Jodi kid who loves Ferrari's One my Dad's friends brother has done it, I think he was called Team Tango in a Porsche and even he admits that his bro is a tosser and that Max Cooper the organiser what a gimp (al be it rich gimp) remember when he first started, he was gonna start a F1 team so he could be one of the drivers. I think the only funny bloke on it was Dan Joyce and he aint funny after 30 seconds, the whole thing is a joke.

On the extreme sports channel on Sky and cable they had 24 hours of it on. 30 min show after 30 min show all the way through.

Not just 2006 either.

That looks a bit too nuts - seen a few videos of that on youtube and its basically chavs in subaru's and stuff undertaking lorries etc on the hardshoulder at about 150mph and generally driving like complete tos$ers

Sort of stuff that probably gets respect from each other, but certainly doesnt get any from me.

and the informed comments from someone who has actually been on it are .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .......................

Firstly the 28k entrance fee actually only allows the organisers to break-even! And the larger fees from what it used to be (i.e. 10k) started on the 2006 rally ... and that was because you started in Europe, then went onto Asia and then ended up in the States and the Playboy Mansion.

Also anybody can enter!! You complete an application, pay your deposit, and then if you are accepted you have to pay the balance of the entry fee two weeks before the rally starts - they even allow you to pay in monthly installments! The more extreme or rare the car, the more likely you are to get on. Although seeing as I was accepted for the 2006 rally driving my WR1 I don't think they mind too much (by the way the only reason I didn't take part in 2006 was because the route wasn't finalised until the December of 05, and thats when they told us all that the cost was circa 25k)

Having been to a number of the pre-rally parties I am happy to say that the people that take part are pretty normal and all are very good fun. Happy to talk about their cars and experiences and always willing to give thrill rides.

So unless you know the rally and have been involved keep your comments to yourself - because you know zip!

No,NO...the one I dislike is the the uber rich types in Ferraris etc overtaking on the hard shoulder and doing the do-nuts in a crowded street before crashing....sorry for any confusion and good luck to you

Then maybe you should get them to film said "normal people" instead of the the tossers.
So if you want to waste your money driving on straight roads with a bunch of uber rich snobs who are a bunch of reck lass fools carry on, the rest of us would rarther go to a track day where that sort of driving belongs.

Not jealous at all,I am in my 20s's with a 300bhp STI and next year I am getting an R34 Skyline

its just a shame that all the people on the Gumball programmes seem to be utter gimps. the only reason I would go on the Gumball would be to chin the likes of team politzi and tell Max Cooper what a tit he looks like in those shades.
