Is it true that...

Put the tune in an envelope, seal it and get someone at the post office to sign it,,,then post it to yourself and never open it.

I heard this years ago, but was never sure if it was true, now the subject has arisen again, does any one ACTUALLY know?

It simply allows an individual to prove the existence of the recording at a certain date. It is therefore imperative that the package is post marked although getting a signature is not required.

so, its not actually copywrtighted, its just evidence incase some to$$er copys you, and you need to prove that you wrote it first.

Yes, you could do the same with a script or art, anything you could send by post. It doesn't prove copyright, it would just help prove your case in a court action.
