What A Waste Of Money
Had to laugh last night.
While filling up at my local shell garage a 'Modified' Rover 25 pulled in and started filling up opposite.
I only noticed when he replaced the nozzle that he had put in £10 worth of Vpower.
I'm sure that will enable him to use all of the horsepower available from his 1.6....

Unfortunately there are people who own cars who don't have much money, get paid weekly, care about the environment and need to carefully budget.

I can only imagine it makes a performance difference on a turbo car as you can advance the ignition more. Surely it doesn't do a lot for non turbo cars.

I only put £10 or £20 in at a time. I only do 1k miles a year so never need a lot of fuel and the thought of some ****** nicking my car with a full tank of fuel worries me.
As for the "1.6" comment, leave the bloke alone, you never know whats under the bonnet You would probably make the same comment about my 1.9, but then I would hand you your Scooby *** on a plate

Opps, that shut me up!! I wasn't being funny, just saying I can never see the point in putting in a tenner here and there. It always lasts longer if you fill up and use it before putting in more..... Sorry if I offended anyone !!

and the point of this thread is.........
Bet you have never put in £10 worth of fuel.
whats wrong with £10. Bearing in mind its possibly a 1.6, that £10 will get more miles than £20 in the scoob. God I remember the days when I used to put a fiver in my car (when I was 18 and fuel was about 60=p per litre)
As for letting him use all the horsepower available, it doesnt matter if you have a full tank or nearly empty. If the fuel is the same then the power will be the same however the car could be slightly faster as it will be slightly lighter.
It could it be that the driver was a trainee F1 engineer and was fuelling the car up optimally for what he had to do? (unlikely I know)

I've put a small amount of petrol in before - Re-Filled to the brim if I've 'Happened' to be passing the petrol station on my way out somewhere.

I used to put £2.50 in my 1.1 escort pop back in 1992/3... That was a gallon and I then got about 40 miles out of it - enough to drive round town pick up a 16year old slapper, go somewhere quiet, make a deposit, kick her out and drive home

Whats age got to do with anything, and how do you know it was a 1.6?
I only fill my car up if going a long distance, otherwise I only put a max of £20 in as above to keep weight down, stop someone nicking it and ragging it for miles plus it doesn't seem as bad just putting £20 in, expecially if ot last a month as it does for me

The less fuel the better..better power to weight ratio
Fuel-surge-tastic
If you want a fuel to clean your engine, put in some toluene or some xylene, or the strongest paint thinner you can buy. Super stuff 99Ron doesn't burn any cleaner than 95Ron

It was'nt the rust that was the problem, it was the square steering wheel....very confusing when approaching roundabouts, British technology at it's best
