Default Points on your license?

I'm in court for some minor offences and expecting to get 12points!! I have a previous set of 3 points. Which make a total of 15. Meaning I will get disqualified for six months.

Question? Do I lose any of my points after the ban? Is it possible to have a license with more than 12 points? If so how does it work then? say if I get 3more point on top of the 15 already what happens?

I know I'm in ****, so save the flamin! Need advice right now? Never ever been to court

Is it true they've got computers in the court room, cross checking everyhting your saying? So I cant lie about owning a car in the past or etc?

Shed some light someone, its my first time in court and getting very nervous. Any advice much appreciated.

AFAIK Your license will show 15 points, and a Disqualification

Get a solicitor to try and minimise the jail sentence

It is *possible* to get 12 or more points and NOT get banned, depending on sympathy mitigating circumstances

If you want proper help try pepipoo or 5ive-o

But I will say it again GET A SOLICITOR who is familiar with the court and traffic

When you arrive in court, they will put you in a holding cell, with some "Big Daddy" That is going down for a long time.He will take the chance if you bend over ,or just give him the eye.

Thumbs down

Just DON'T lie in court, not about anything! It WILL come back to bite you!

Get a solicitor, be apologetic, eat humble pie, etc etc.

Best of luck under NL! As already posted here, motoring offences are the most prosecuted in the UK now, and almost ALWAYS to the letter of the law, with maximum sentences;(

Local newsreader now on ITN Lucy Cohen got done with 12 points. Big fine only because she said "She was too well know to use public transport". She's still driving.

Are you famous????

Or as above practice stiffling screams, biting on the pillow and staying off the curry!!!!

Friend of mine has 14 points and they let him keep driving.

Dont the points stay on for three years? They dont drop off after a ban.

The points don't appear on a license after a ban, instead it shows a TT99 (I think) for a disqualification.

Though when an insurance company find out there's a TT99 on a licence, they ask what the offences leading to it were.

Found that out trying to get one of our employees (with a previous ban) on our fleet insurance.

John.

Wear a smart suit, plead extreme hardship ( get a letter from your employer that you will not be able to conduct your job without a licence, grovell like mad, how sorry you are!!) and if the gods are smiling you that day you could just get away with it.

But in all honesty you are going to get a totting up ban for 6 months. This should wipe all your previous points off, as generally, a ban greater then 56 days, all points are wiped clean. When you get your licence back it will have a totting up code.

If you NEED your car for work and will lose your job because of it, you can plea mitigating circumstances. You will need a letter off your boss. if not then you wil more than likely face a ban and have a TT99 endorsement. when the ban is up you will then have a fresh slate, but may find insurance a struggle

not much use having a clean slate then. I reckon nearly all insurance companies will refuse to insure me. Its a dead end. Points your sha**ed, clean slate tt99 your still sha**ged?

I suggest you take it on the chin, serve your ban and then learn to drive........Assuming it was your bad driving that lead to your pending conviction?

It can also depend what your points were for. 12 points due to 4 speeding convictions aren't as bad as you might think, but (for example) 6 points for dangerous driving and 6 points for no insurance would be a problem.
