mate of mine got pulled over for speeding and told hes going to court (he was giving it beans with a bmw at the time so was going some), this was back in october. hes has no contact since being pulled over, no nip, no nothing.
first off, should he have got a NIP, or is the paperwork he was givien on the day that part?
second, how long do the police have to start things moving, in a legal sence?

Got my 3 points for overtaking some jobsworth in a brown 1.2 Corsa in a rural 50 limit. He called ahead, and sent out what appeared to be half of Thames Valley Police to pull me over in the next town!!

I believe that magistrates will always favour the evidence of an 'unbiased and trustworthy' police officer over some scumbag speeder but I'd have thought that a robust defence would see something like this beaten.
It's the presumption of guilt that seems to be the case in the UK which always makes me rather glad I drive a foreign registered car. Nothing more satisfying than setting off a few GATSOs and generally sticking two fingers up at the law when I'm unfortunate enough to be back in Britain. Have to say it's a great feeling to overtake a line of unfortunates doing 50mph down a long straight road in good conditions because some tw@t decided to stick up some revenue generators on what used to be a perfectly safe 60 or even 70mph road. I was flashed 4 times over the festive season.
