Just paid £84 inc VAT. Small local firm. got them in 6 years ago after British Gas told us the boiler was u/s and we'd need an entire new system at £4k.
Our local firm fixed it for £120, and have looked after it ever since!

'Getting ripped' to the tune of 10 - 15 quid a year isn't the end of the world

Gary, just sign up with British Gas or one of the other service companies. £12 - £15 per month but that includes a yearly service and all parts c/w radiator, hot tank & pipework covered against any failure

Sorry,i meant to buy. I've read recently that these new ones that are energy efficient (condensing or something) cost up to 2k. Like i said a boiler is just a flame heating a tank of water in principle. Why so expensive?

Its only really worth insuring the boiler...

Got it done this afternoon £50 all in. I prefer the sound of that than £180 a year. Feel free to take the mickey when something goes badly wrong and I end up with a big bill
