could be a number of things:

1. you may have been running on domestic tarrifs and have crossed the useage threshold to business tarriffs
2. you may have been under charged in the past due to to being on the wrong rates
3. Could be based on estimated reads - make sure you send one in

By the way - they are introducing additional fines for late payment. 28 days.

I can't believe anyone uses them.

Small businesses need to be wary of being switch without their knowledge too, as they don't have the legal protection that households do (according to watchdog!)

I had a problem recently whereby they increased my direct debit to more than double

They didnt actually tell me either until the 2nd payment came out of my account as im on bi yearly statements now (I think)

I certainly never got any notification of this, and I was informed that by law they are suppsed to notify you first

just switched suppliers now (as they doubled my gas last year)

I *think* Centrica (B.G.'s parent company) make most of their profits from power generation and industrial gas use, what they can rip off from householders and small businesses is probably just a bonus to them.

Sounds like to me your contract finished and you was then placed on deemed rates, the prices quoted are not prices which BGB are offering as they are way too high. I imagine you need to tell the whole story mate
