Interference pattern with PS2
#1
Hi All,
Had this problem for a while, thought I'd ask and see if anyone else has had it.
I have a PS2 attached to my 28" widescreen tele through a SCART connector.
I get what looks like a 1.5" square interference pattern at various place on the screen. The patterns look like a crosshatch effect and tend to move slowly around the screen.
I do have a proper SCART cable, not the silly adaptor that came with the PS2 and I have tried turning off all of my other electrical eqipment to no avail.
I also get the same patterns when playing PS1 games (I think, although its harder to notice as the graphics are not as clear to start with).
I have never seen the patterns when using the tele as a television or watching DVDs (from a dvd player, never tried the ps2 as a dvd player).
Any ideas ?
Thanks,
Andrew.

Not to sure about this but maybe........
Is the scart lead a proper RGB scart lead????
Also.......if the tv has 2 or more scart inputs......change it over and try the other socket.......
And again im not sure.......but i dont think all tv's have RGB scart capability.......not 100% sure on this though...
Hope this helps........probably wont though.....(talking out of my ar$e again!!!)........but just maybe....

Hi,
I should have mentioned ...
I have my dvd player and ps2 both going through a scart switch box and into the #1 scart input on the tele.
scart port 1 is supposed to be RGB, and I believe that the all of the cables (and the cable off the switch box) are full rgb cables.
I don't get the pattern from the DVD player.
I have tried the ps2 directly in the tv and the problem still occurs, just worried now that there is something wrong with the ps2.
Andrew.

I have experienced problems before using "switch boxes"........so maybe that is the problem......
I had a scart cable.......but got fed up with having to switch back to watch dvd's....so now i use a s-video cable , and that seems pretty good.
What make is the scart lead you are using for your ps2??

The scart lead is the official Sony PS2->SCART lead (not the crappy one that comes with the PS2). Its all nice and gold plated and looks reasonably decent quality.
I will try mucking around with removing the switch box when I get home tonight.
Unfortunately my tv does not have and s-video input or I would use this for the dvd player and do away with the switch box.
