How do I get a copy of my P60 from a few years back
my employer refuses to send me a copy, saying I should have been more careful with it
I need it pretty sharpish, and have turned the house upside down looking for it
Do the Inland Revenue keep copies of them, or only employers?

Your payslip from March of that year should have all the same details as your P60, if you can get a copy of that.
It's a pisstake really -- the info on the P60 is also on the P14 that gets sent to HMRC (it's effectively the same form). So HMRC already have the info, but they ask you to send it too.

Nice employers Steve ![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
I'm always getting asked for copies of P60's. No problem. I bet they haven't kept a copy themselves![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Phone the IR, they will tell you the details

I've been having an ongoing battle with the IR (or Revenue & Customs now) who don't appear to keep details of your tax payments for long if at all. In fact they don't seem to know **** all about anything, let alone about tax matters.
They are still demanding money for a tax year I wasn't in the UK! They don't seem to know what tax I paid for the 02/03 tax year either. I'm having to source relevant P60's/proof etc myself.
I would recommend sourcing a large tub of lubricant before dealing with them.
