Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond will be the guest speaker at this year’s Birmingham Chamber of Commerce and Industry Awards Dinner.
It takes place on Friday, 2 March, at the International Convention Centre and will be one of his first public appearances since his 300mph crash in a jet-powered car last July. Nicknamed ‘Hamster’ by his Top Gear colleagues Jeremy Clarkson and James May, he was seriously injured in the accident but has amazed doctors with the speed of his recovery.
The event will be a homecoming of sorts for Richard, who grew up in Solihull and now lives with his wife and two children in Cheltenham.

Been loads of times as someone I know was Production Manager on three TG series. I could 'guest list' as often as I wanted.

I've tried and failed. My uncle has just been down for Sunday's show, but he got a special invite, along with the paramedics and A&E staff. Don't know you get tickets otherwise though (I expect they're just in very high demand). I wonder if sending a photo helps - they seem to go to attractive girls, and blokes Jeremy can take the p*ss out of
