Anyone been? Am considering going for a week or so, probably taking the Scooby and either trailer for bike, or riding it there with mate driving car. Just wandered if anyone has been and if its really up to what all the web sites report etc. Looks quite a long drive, especially as I thought London to Cadwell Park was far!!!!

I going over in may with a few of my mates off gixerjunkies, staying in a cool guest house about 5 mins from the track.

I'm really looking forward to it, not so much the drive there.

Have yet to experience it, but always said i would and the way my holidays are working out, now seems like the perfect time

I've been. Took the Ninja round. Top stuff. Its worth hanging out near the circuit just for all the autoerotic sailing past. Stuffed full of GT3 Porsches though.

Best tenner you'll ever spend. Also all the roads round it are great. We had a week staying on the Rhine and spent a day at the 'ring in glorious weather. don't crash! recovery expensive

Where's Nevetas when you need him??

He's driven it well over 100 times in some VERY nice machinery.

He took me out in the M5 that he owned for 10 minutes

Next year the ring is closed to the public due to a problem with noise and the locals, local press have reported it should be OK by 2008.

Shame really, was looking forward to easter

Oh Well...

Sorry my English not so good. Closed 07 should reopen 08 but with a HUGE noise limit, unless your car is German registered.

To be fair the conditions were attrocious, so he took it easy. It seemed that all the computers were working overtime just to keep the car straight.

Even so, he did manage to kick the @rse out a couple of times

I know, I had a chat with him and saw him on a lap when he was with the Subaru Rally watching boys.

lots of usefull info on bens site - the prices for the track closures are a bit scary - A lad in our group just bumped a barrier and it cost him just over 1400 euros to replace it - a biker also died when we were there

it isnt for the fainhearted or for those that want to try and blitz it and get a new lap record on your first visit. It is 12.7 miles or track that can bite at any point, that is almost impossible to get the perfect lap without years of practice and very expensive if it goes wrong.

I've just had a good look through it, funny thing is that there's no mention of the forthcoming restrictions as mentioned above.

Go figure

THe crash thing is what i pointed out - you have to be recovered by their truck.

There is meant to be a noise limit anyway but there were no checks when i went. It also says there is a speed limit when barriers are being repaired but i think i was the only one to actually slow down.

From what i remember there aren't that many locals in the area! If this is true they are of a similar muppet ilk to those that live near airports and then complain about the planes. Don't like it? Don't buy a house there numpties!

I think the restrictions mentioned are a wind up guys, come on, wake up The Krauts want it all to themselves, and we can't let that happen can we Been there twice now, first in 2005, then again last year. When people ask about the ring, and whether they should go, the answer is simple:
do you like cars/bikes?
do you like driving fast?
can you navigate to the town of Nurburg?
can you book on-line a hotel?

If the answer to all of the above is YES, why aren't you there already!
Take a look at the smacs site: Subaru Club of SMACS, South Manchester And Cheshire Scooby's plenty of stuff on there about the ring trips I/we've done
