Default Selling a debt?

Someone who i owe money to is saying they want to sell a debt.

Now listen

I have been paying said person off over a few months, but stupidly have not been asking for receipts.

I asked for receipts dating back to when i stated paying, they refused and then an argument came, they said they would now sell the debt, trouble is they have no proof of the loan in the first place.

I have no intentio of not paying but want proof of payments, just want it done properly.

Surely even "unofficial" debt collectors will want to see some proof of the agreement, before "proceedings" start

Or do they

I cant imagine a reputable company would touch a debt unless they could see proof it actually existed, so i would imagine the first choice

But would these people want to see some kind of proof also though?

My understanding is they will pay cash upfront for the debt, but whats to stop someone fabricating the whole thing.

Expect an early morning or late night wake up/rough up call as your introduction to them as well so you know they "mean business" Best bet would be to try to pay them off the whole amount asap.

your not one of "da boyz" are you

why not just get a contract drawn up for what is left as long as it states full and final payment for X item or something like that you would be covered afaik, after all all you really need to worry about is what is left to pay.

Not a bad idea, but as you may have guessed we have had a large falling out and any kind of sensible discussions are rejected

No unofficial debt collectors wont care about what has or has not been paid, as they themselves only get paid when they get the money.

Sounds like you need to suggest a pub visit and a friendly discussion over a few beers in a neutral place.

if its a underworld money loan as i imagine it is if theres no paperwork, pay the debt, call the chap ask him politely what you owe argue the payments you have made offer the right amount in cash to settle the amount honestly owed

you do not want to go pissing off un official lenders, they will have good contacts and wont stop till they have there dosh, ive known people to be terrorised, cars stolen houses burned down etc, they honestly dont care, scare tactics is how they work, just not worth the hassle m8

As apples stated people will go to stupid lengths to reclaim the money, fires been set outsides of houses are no uncommon, people been mown down are also not uncommon, if the debt is large enough, these people want paying as at the end of the day when they get the money they get paid.

If you didn't complete the following mods by February - would you have enough to pay up?

TD05 16g Ported
Pink injectors
Fuel rail conversion kit
Harvey ported headers
Samco induction pipe

I have the money to pay, as stated in my first post!

I just want receipts for monies paid over already, not an unreasonable request.

I meant pay up in full and clear the debt totally. Surely that would be more attractive to the loan shark than selling the debt and getting a lower return.
