In a area of conservation. What is required for

1. Livingroom window to be replaced by french doors. Planning Permission required as it is in a conservation area - worth having a chat with Planning officer though as all Authorities are different in my experience.
2. Structural wall to be taken down and replaced by RSJ and metal post. Structural Engineers calculations and design required for submission to Building Control Dept.
3. Top floor berooms to be turned into one (removal of old stud wall) Nothing required

Also

1. Can Water resist MDF be used in bathrooms to create walls (None structual, only to create showers etc. Just use normal plasterboard - the waterproofing factor comes from your tiling.
2. Do extractor fans have to be fitted to bathrooms complete with "afterrun" extractor fans are needed in all bathrooms / shower rooms / ensuites, but afterrun is only required if the room has no openable window.

HTH

Cheers for your time Dave

I thought that MDF was allowed in the construction side of a bathroom??
There are no tiles. Just paint . so walls will be getting wet.

Just how bad is it if the work hasnt any permissions etc?

No reason why you can't use moisture resistant mdf, but I'd say it is just that....more moisture resistant than water resistant.....when you say there's no tiles just paint and it will be getting wet, do you mean in an actual shower enclosure m8?

If you're trying to achieve a seamless finish in a shower enclosure (i.e. not tiled), think about using a waterproof wall panel such as Respatex or similar.

I wouldn't recommend merely painted walls within a shower enclosure to any of my Clients to be honest m8!

Give me a pm if you want more details.
