Randy Couture is set to take on Tim Sylvia at UFC 68 on 3rd March!
Randy must be mad, going back up to heavyweight where he was nowhere near as comfortable as 205lbs IMO.
Tim Sylvia at 265lbs will be too much for The Natural methinks....
Who thinks he should have stayed retired?

WOW thats exciting news!! I was dissapointed when Randy retired, but did think that it was his time, fantastic athlete. Not sure what to make of 'the return', on one side I would love to see him fight again (esp to take sylvia apart) but on the other I dont want to be dissapointed by seeing him loose. Thinking back to Ken Shamrock, towards the end for him it just got embarassing, would hate for Randy's career to be tarnished with a serious *** whopping!
Dont forget UFC67 this Sunday!!!!!!!

POC,
I think that Couture's return will be the Shamrock situation all over again.
Once retired as a "great" and inducted into the Hall of Fame, they should retain some reputation and dignity.
Shamrock thinking he could do anything against a much younger and more rounded Ortiz was crazy.
Same as Couture, he has realised that the light heavyweight division has passed him by, Liddell will dominate for a long time IMHO, and on his best day, the current Couture couldn't beat Liddell. I'll never understand why these guys allow themselves to be embarassed by trying to return.
Having said all that, I was a huge fan of Couture and loved his style, and on the flip side, I hate Sylvia, but I cannot see Couture doing anything at all against him, except get knocked out!

I personally think If Sylvia was shorter, Randy could take it, as Sylvia doesn't excell at anything. But the height has put him to thte top and kept him there. At his height, i don't know if Randy is going to be able to do too much. Gonna be a really interesting one.
I don't think there is a person on earth that wants sylvia to win though!!!
Got me bottle of **** Creek ready for this sunday too though!!

you also have to remember that guys like that dont just stop
if you've been a world champion you still want to be a world champion
he's got nothing to prove as his track record speaks for it's self
i think it's a bad move on his part but will still be watching it likes

i dunno about that. Randy has more respect than anyone, with the exception of maybe chuck. He has a spot on attitude and if he loses it will simply be a loss. Shamrock was a loss people wanted to see. He made a mistake by being so cocky. Randy ain't cocky.

What I mean is that they were both icons, champions, the best, in their day. Now however, the sport has progressed beyond their years and abilities, and its rarely successful for top athletes to attempt to come out for retirement for one last dance, in any sport.
He should stay retired and soak up the Hall of Famer adulation in the knowledge that he was one of the best there ever was. Why risk it all and if he comes out the loser, which I suspect he will, then he'll be remembered for the failed comeback rather than the ears of domination.

I do hope he kicks Sylvia's *** though, he has to be the least talented champion ever. Apparently when Pat Miletich discovered him, he had no MMA or any other fighting experience, but Pat saw the potential his size offered and taught him what he knows now. Hardly a seasoned journeyman. I was gutted when he knocked Arlowski out.
