Never had this before but paid for an item by paypal today and bloke says he will not send until cleared on paypal? Only 10 days!!!! WTF surely the advantage of paypal is you get the goods quicker, have they changed their policy?

If you haven't enough in your account it will take it from your linked bank account for which they will do an "echeque" taking 10 days or more and making even more money out of you, robbing b@stards

dont you have to become verified after a certain usage, i remember them doing something like charging your credit card 15p then you had to wait for your statement to get a code or something

I thought you funded your paypal account through a Visa tranaction to your bank account. Thats how it used to work for me, but it has been some time since I needed to top up my funds

Or you can do what I did, and somehow selected e-cheque when I went to pay for something - couldn't figure it out when I saw how I had paid, as there was plenty of money in my account.

It can take ages for it to clear through

He might mean he will send once he has "withdrawn" the money from his paypal account into his normal bank account?

To be honest I normally do the same as I was very nearly caught out by Paypal before........ someone paid me via paypal for an item and I then went through the process of withdrawing it to my normal bank account (so I thought everything was ok at this point) but about 2 days after this I had a message from Paypal saying they have withdrawn the funds as they believe they were paid via fraudulent methods, i.e. probably a dodgy credit card. I thought this was the whole idea of paypal so you can't get stung?

Anyway, thankfully I was unable to send the item on the day I was planning to so I still had the item in my possession, otherwise I would have been £80 out of pocket!

Yep they have me down as paying by eCheque, all I did was pay as normal so why after 3 years use has this happened? They seem to run by laws of their own. I could have paid by bank cheque quicker job nockeys! Only difference is this may well be the first payment the guy has accepted through paypal would that make a difference?

wierd..
My paypal account has never got funds in it.
When I pay for something they take it straight outta my bank account there and then. if the bank account bounces it they move to the "back up funding source" which is my credit card..
never happened though so dunno what happens then.

Paypal charged me £15 to 'recover' £90 I sent someone for a camera who then closed his ebay account and ran off with my money and the camera.

Same here. Either its to do with Credit Card expiring as mentioned above or they have changed their policies in some way.

Either way its a right PITA.
