Default Changing plates

If your referring to changing private plates back to the originals, it can take anything upto 4 weeks - i had the same when i bought my car. Best thing to do is give the DVLA a call - thats what i did.

Hope this helps. Nick.

you should have some kind of slip which, until your documentation arrives, is a legally viable alternative to your docs, stating that the transfer is currently in process. I did anyway.

the car was traded in without the private number plate, the dealer have to sent the document to dvla to get the original plate back to the car before he can do an MOT. I was told by him that it would take a week or so to get the document back, he didnt mentioned 4weeks!!! i cant wait that long!! Is there any other way you ca speed up the process?

Mine had that but they had an MOT done without a reg plate - you can do this. My FTO had it done too as it had to be tested for UK roads before it could be registered so speak to the dealer.

My MOT arrived in the post with the correct reg number on it. In between time i drove round with the private plate on and tax disc for that plate.

the car doesnt have private plate on it as the previous owner didnt trade his car with private plate so thats why i can drive the car until i recieved the number plate back
