Default Top Gear last night

Anyone else think how much that robin reliant rocket stunt actually cost last night and who was actually paying for it ?

I know some of the challenges they do on there are good, but cant help thinking why I am paying over £130+ for a tv license when its wasted on some crap like this.

Rather it was wasted on crap like this than twice as much eastenders every week. At least there's something to watch once a week

Its difficult to please everyone but i personally thought it was superb. Id dedicate my £130 if i could.... Not the funniest show thsi week but visually good. I can see where your coming from...

I first started thinking about it when richard was controlling the plane and crashed it into the window..... I thought to myself..." that would have cost about £30" lol

would love to know the kind of money that was spent on it though, cant be cheap for what was going to be a known outcome.

Personnaly i thought it was very funny, the Simon Pegg interveiw was comady. I seen the picture of the rocket in the paper but wasnt expecting the lenghs they went to. I thought it was gonna work has well. Would of loved to have seen the robin fly back to earth. Also loved the sly comments on the Hamsters driving skills on testing the new 270 mph car thats rumored to being built.

What exactly u hoping from the new series? They had everything they had in past episodes in it.

Do you support the tory party, campaign for road pricing and lower emissions?

Sheesh - how often do you get to see something interesting like this on TV. I would happily pay a TV license for Top gear and the only other funny science programme Mythbusters.

I think it was one of the few programms the BBC produce which is worth the licence fee. Would be happy about paying the fee if I could say it went to making topgear

Cannot fault it, if they wana smash a window with a plane, fair enough, I bet bottom dollar we all laughed at it. Pure entertainment, no matter how much it costs.

I imagine it was at least partly funded by us licence payers. And I have no bloody problem with that at all.

1 hours worth of pure entertainment, and the launch of the "shuttle" had me laughing out loud in amazement, as was my wife, and 7 year old daughter.

Great stuff, thumbs up TG and BBC.

Put it this way I was far more interested in this rocket launch than any of NASA's missions! After being more than gob smacked by the initial launch I was hoping the Robin would detach and come to earth with some dignity. I bet I wasn't alone in being disappointed at this failure.

Does the BBC not also rake in a load of cash from selling this show overseas??

There's no way TG runs at a loss. More countries buy it than 'enders.

Top Gear is produced by BBC World which is self funding by syndicating to other countries and stuff like the the Top Gear magazine. Profits from these enterprises are ploughed back into BBC funds.

If it wasn't for Top Gear your licence may be even more expensive.

Exactly - Top Gear is one of the BBC's top 10 grossing shows for syndicating rights. Why do you think it came back after Hammond's crash. There is no way they would be able to do stunts like that if it wasn't making the money from syndication.

Some people probably preferred the old half hour Top Gears with Chris Goffey roadtesting the latest datsun cherry 1.3!

Luckily timings meant I could watch Corrie then TG, though no eastenders on sunday evening.

I kind of thought it did well to get as far as it did, but could see the engineers dissapoint when it would not deatch. Those guys must have been some serious hours into that.

on the top gear website it has a very very short video clip of the 'Reliant Shuttle' with 2.99 overlayed

At first I thought it was how much they were going to charge for viewing the full clip, in order to pay the northumberland farmer who lost a field

The thing is, how can they top something like that, they should have saved it for the last episode of this series, unless they have something much better for that

Was awesome to see it go up, they could have fired the boosters on the robin to give it a little more 'air time'

Top gear is pure quality

Personally,I liked Jeremy Clarksons theory on the average speed cameras. The government is trying to get us all glued to our speedos so we crash and die, then there are less pensions for them to pay !!!

I agree. I didn't like the road trip episode in the states the other week. Yet dare to say you don't like certain aspects of Top Gear and you're lambasted by certain elements of Scoobynet. TBH I didn't even bother watching Sunday nights TG and went to the pub.

Don't like TG? You must be some left wing nancy boy who watches soaps all day? WTF

IMHO the show is rapidly disappearing up it's ****. When will people realise that they have been deprived of a good car magazine programme on tv and it's been replaced by 3 egomaniacs trying to turn things into scrapheap challenge with a bit of slapstick and blase ignorance.
