Got the followin email today, anyone else get one?

here goes:

Dear...

I would like to introduce myself as Mr. Steve Adams; I am the personal Accountant to Engr. Albert, a National of your country, who before his death worked with Shell Petroleum Development Company in London. Here in after shall be referred to as my client on November 12, 2001, my client, his wife, and their two children were involved in American Airlines Flight 587 crash. All 260 people on board were killed — two flight crew members, seven flight attendants, and 251 passengers (including five unticketed infants sitting on their parents' laps) — along with five people killed on the ground, making it one of the deadliest crashes on American soil.

Since then I have made several inquiries to my clients country’s embassy to locate any of his extended relatives, this has also proved unsuccessful.

For your own confirmation of the authenticity of my Story please see: American Airlines Flight 587 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

After these several unsuccessful attempts, I decided to locate any member of his family hence I contacted you. I have contacted you to assist in repatriating the money and property left behind by my client before they are confiscated or declared unserviceable by the bank where this huge deposits were lodged, particularly in the United Kingdom where the deceased had an account Valued at US$12.3 (Twelve million Three hundred thousand United States Dollars) has Issued me a notice to provide the next of kin. Or have the account confiscated.

Since I have been unsuccessful in locating the relatives for over some time now, I seek your consent to present you as the next of kin to the deceased so that the proceeds of this account valued at (US$12.3m) can be paid to you and then you and I can share the money in this ratio,
1. 60% to me
2. 30% to you.
3. 10% for any expenses that may be incurred during the cost of transaction.
All I require is your honest co-operation to enable us see this deal through. I guarantee that this will be executed under a legitimate arrangement. You can contact me through this private e-mail: aru7adams@yahoo.co.uk and enclose your name, private telephone and fax number for easy communication.

Best Regards

Steve Adams

I'm surprised anyone still even has to ask whether it's a scam to be perfectly honest...

It only takes one person for it to be profitable, I reckon they make a tidy sum.

These people drive me nuts!

There's an absolutely lovely woman at work who, through no fault of her own (husbands redundancy), has got some massive financial problems - and she's half fallen for 2 scams recently. It's easy to be judgmental, but her sheer desperation has completely clouded her rationality.

To be fair to her one of them came directly from the Monster Jobs website.

It's easy to be more objective when you're not desperate - and these people are preying on the desperate.

It's a 419 of the highest (or lowest order)... 419scambaiters is the place to go - see here: Welcome to the 419 Eater
A great website if you have time to read it. One of my mates has a scambait on there...

The scary thing is that some people actually fall for it.

weslad - its an advanced fee fraud. To "release" the "money" he will next ask you to pay some "bank charges", some "administration fees", payments to "solicitors", "rental chanrges", "telephone costs", "salaries" for his team, etc etc all deductible from the final pot of course. Get the idea?
