Default Transferring reg from retention to a car

Hello

My wifes reg plate has been on retention while she had a lease car. She now has a new car we own so does anyone know which form I need to get to transfer the reg back to the car ? The DVLA website mentions a V100 but this is an information booklet not the form i might need.

if the retention certificate says that the transfer fee has been paid you don't need any forms just the recipient car's V5 and MOT , if it needs one . i changed mine last week and it took 20 minutes at the DVLA office in bangor , it's pretty simple really .

Exactly as Deltabravo 9 says, however some DVLA offfices will want a couple days to process it & will send confirmation. If the new car is not taxed they can & will process the request immediately and give you new tax disc/MOT there & then, might just be worth asking when they are quite as they may be more willing to process it while you wait if they are not busy.

Did it yesterday, as everyone says if its had the assignment fee paid its very straightforward. Remember to take your certificate of retention, your MOT and registration document, I took my tax disc in with me but they said I didnt need to. It was instant, gave me a envelope to post my old tax disc back to them after I had changed my plates to the new number.
