Can a police officer please pm me asap
need to speek to a police officer urgently.
My best mate purchased a car from a showroom, back in july 06, it was a saxo. She has had an accident and wrote the car off 2 weeks ago.
It was her fault, the insurance has asked for all her documents, when she has checked they have given her an MOT for another car.
They have told her because it had more than 6 months on the ticket when she bought the car they wouldn't have put a 12 month ticket on it.
If this is so she has no Mot how does she stand.
She is insured and taxed, it doesn't look too good does it.

Another possibility - you can contact the previous owner (based on the Reg Doc) and see if he remembers where it was MOT'd. £10 for a duplicate from the MOT Garage.
Fingers crossed !

Chances are the MOT is for more than 6 months possibly 7 upwards? I think any reputable showroom would normaly offer 12 months MOT anyway and maybe only 6 months tax?
Good luck to your friend, and I really hope that she and nobody else was badly hurt!
Chin up!
Plums.

They gave her a cert for a seat ibeza in yellow. Instead of a Citroen Saxo in yellow.
It was her first car and feel sorry for her as she loaned it to me when my sti got swiped.
She is not a dodgy kid at all.

Yes, that is exactly what i am trying to say, she is only 18 and hasn't passed her test yet, she got the car from somewhere like car craft.

But as far as having the wrong one goes they are having none of it, in other words tuff and not their prob.
They told her they will try and have a look to see if they still have the correct one, when they get chance.

They told her if it has less than 6 month on the ticket, they will put her a full one on it.

Maybe see if you can contact the guy that traded it in to the garage in the first place from the info on the V5 reg doc to find out where it was MOt'd (as above). Use "Yell, com" for his phone number.

as for the correct mot, if the car was taxed there must have been a ticket on it. threaten the car dealer with 'I will be contacting trading standards' and see how they react.

She needs to go to the place she bought the car and demand they get their finger out. They can fob people off over the telephone but they will not want someone causing a scene in front of potential customers, perhaps if she takes someone older with her who won't get pushed about.
If no success I would try Trading Standards instead of plod.
