ELECTRICITY BILLS!!!!
Hi,
im trying to find out what peoples average electric bills are per month for your average 3 bedroom house with 2 adults and 2 young children. i think i may have a problem with my meter; we seem to be paying between £80 and £100 per month, and thats just your normal appliances etc, heating and water are both gas.
any help much appriciated.

Sounds about right TBH. Ours is at the bottom end of that scale, 3 bedrooms, 3 year old and 6 year old that think light switches only go on etc. Electric oven, dishwasher, dryer etc.
Electricity prices have really shot up in the 10 years we've been married. Used to get rebates off a direct debit of £40 a month when we first got married, no kids but same size house.

me and my fiance have electric and gas meters with npower. ive always preferred the pay weekly idea you see rather than a quarterly or monthly bill, so i budget for that being on weekly wages.
electric is usually £25 for two weeks
gas, about £30-35 for two weeks.
il admit im thinking of moving to another company as the prices and service arent the greatest ever.
i do use a lot of electrical things, usual appliances, pc is always on, decks and music equipment too i suppose.

mmmmm.
so i seem to paying the same as Mrfastbaz but i have a smaller house, i dont have 2 teenagers mine are 1 and 3, and dont have any reptiles to keep warm.
for electric we pay direct debit of £60 per month and have to pay an extra £20 to £40 per month,
for gas we pay direct debit of £60 per month and thats it.
chocolate, we just changed our supplier from edf to npower. not had a bill from npower yet, but we done our change with uswitch, they compare the suppliers and tell you the cheapest in your area.

nice thread SB, npower have told me to do the same with the meter readings for 7 days, but its made me think about my immersion heater, for some reason i think there may be a 2nd switch for it on the inside of the airing cupboard as well as the one i keep turned off on the outside of the cupboard, think ill get me testers out and go give it a check.
back soon BM

Seems high. I pay £70.00 per month for electric. Oil central heating and water. Old farm cottage, 5 bedrooms.
I'm with Scottish Power and in credit, so my payment will probably reduce.
2 adults and 2 kids, xbox, computers and all that guff most of the nights and all weekends.
I'd be getting yours checked out

Hmmm. I'd also heard that the *magnet trick* can work either way. It can also make the thing speed up!!! Anyhow, my meter got replaced a few months ago - no spinning disk - the thing is about the size of a calculator!

We pay £31 pm for electric. Just moved from Southern Electric to Npower via uswitch - it's saving us £50+ per year.
4 beds, 4 recep.,2 adults and 2 kids ( aged 14months and 5 years old).
We are usually always in credit.

I've got a 3 bedroom semi built in the 1960's. Electric bill is about £50 a month which is good considering there are 2 adults, 2 chlidren aged 9 and 7. We have 3 fish tanks and 2 computers that are on most of the time. Cooker is gas and we try not to leave lights on when not needed.
