TomTom One/Home Problem
Strange things happen...I bought my TomTom One with the map of France pre-installed and on Friday I finally got around to connecting to TomTom Home where I downloaded the latest application and other updates. Now I can't switch to the map of France as it doesn't see it. It's on the SD card as I can see that but no matter what menu options I look at, nothing allows me to switch to the France map. Any ideas how I can fix it? I have the Alps map loaded and it looks like the folders are set up right on the SD card but still....help!

Howdy STI-
1. Try switching on TomTom click or tap screen depending which Tom you have to open Main menu....
2. Click on 'change preferences'
3. Preferences click > to open page 2 of 6 of Preferences
4. Click on 'Switch Map'
5. Choose the map you want......
Hope this sorts it out for ya!
Best regards

Hi guys,
Thanks for the input but the problem is that the TomTom doesn't display the map of France when i go to the switch map screen.
More bizarre is that I gave up in the end and decided to download the latest map of France (at 60 euros) onto a new 1GB SD card which I bought on Thursday and had been working...TomTom Home sees it when I have the TomTom connected and it installed the map and everything...but when I disconnect the TomTom ONE from my PC it refuses to start as it comes up with a graphic indicating that the card is not a valid TomTom SD card. I dunno what to do -- tried resetting it with no joy and have sent a mail to TomTom support but last time I contacted them about a different problem they were clueless. If I put the original SD card in it works just fine!

Seems like I might have solved the problem by copying everything off the card then re-formatting it with FAT (not FAT32) and copying everything back on again. It's working for now.
Let's see what TomTom Support have to say when they get around to replying to my email...

This may sound odd but 1GB SD card maybe too big to read correctly....
I heard this once don't know how true it is?
It's just a thought......
If you have a spare 512MB SD it may work better.....
Just a thought.....

We have the Western Europe maps on a 1 gb card. The only problem we had was the new OS being a pain as the speed camera set up was different.
Tomtom support are good IF you can get through on the phone. Their email replies are as much good as a chocolate teapot!
