0845 Telephone numbers
Can anybody recommend a good 0845 telephone number provider.
I have searched on-line and it seems the terms and conditions of most (cheaper) providers are very tieing...
Any Infor gratefully received.

Dunno - but *IF* you were thinking of getting one for a business of yours then, as a customer, I hate the damn things. What's wrong with a geographic number? Most landline and mobile tariffs give you free calls to geographic numbers but NOT to non-geographic numbers such as 0845.

It is for business and are address is right on the edge of a geographoc area.
Yell.com has worked great in our geographic area but rubbish in the area where our code is different, our code covers a very big area as well.
Hence the 0845 number to try and get some additional work in our adjacent geographical area.

Cant BT route a number from the appropriate dialing code area to you? They certainly used to be able to.

Personally I tend to favour calling a company with a non '08' number when you have a few listed in Yellow Pages, and are deciding who to call; and if its an 0870 number forget it!
Its not an 0845 based company's fault that that Vodafone [in my case] make me pay more for calling an 0845 number, as they exclude it from my inclusive minutes, but when I have 1000 minutes rolled over I need to use 'em up and not pay more!

If the company offers a a service/product I need want at a good price, I'd not think twice abbout an 08 number. I find it hard to believe people are that short sighted and would rather pay more or get a lower service level to save a few pence.
At the weekend isn't 0845 somthing likp 1p a minute?

I WOULD call an 0845 number, but if I am choosing between 10 similar listings in Yellow Pages why not elect to call those companies first that will cost me no more money to call? I hardly think that is 'short sighted' or equates to getting 'lower service' somehow
The best companies think of things a bit more from a cutomer/potential client perspective; people do actively avoid a grabby company that wants to take a cut from their phone bill before even getting the gig...

And the company that the 0845 number is directed too gets NO income from it. In fact most pay an annual charge to receive the calls.

0870 numbers are different and I do belive the recipient of the calls can get an income from incoming calls.

To contact ITV :
Tel: 0870 600 6766
Fax: 0121 634 4898
The 0870 number says it all doesnt it...especially if you are phoning in to complain about being ripped off by ITV Play/Richard & Judy phonelines etc At least they are paying the price now for ripping people off by phone...
Wouldnt touch an '08' with a bargepole for my business anymore...

I didn't say you'd get a lower service. I said by not calling the 0845 numbers you'd limit the number of companies you call. Stands to reason if you only call 1 compnay you may not get the best deal.
