Excess import taxes invoice from FedEx - what next?
Just received one of these for an Ebay item i bought from Hong Kong, and wonder what the scoop is.
The amount of tax i'm being charged is well below 17.5%, although it doesn't say how they've calculated the amount. But what happens if you ignore this? Who comes after you? FexEx? Inland Revenue? Nobody?
Anyone have any experience of this?

welcome to my world, they will charge you the vat and/or duty at cost, and the charge you for clearing it,
i have commercial dealiong seith them, but they cant tell me the duty and vat amounts till the end of the month because of the type of entry they do.

I had this with DHL about 2 months after I got a package. Told them I'd already paid VAT and duty myself and that they could bog off. They claimed they'd already paid on my behalf so I asked them to provide documentation of a) their payment and b) my permission for them to pay on my behalf or the senders permission (delivery note clearly stated "recipient to pay" and the other 2 options were "DHL to pay on recipients behalf" or "sender to pay" or something). Never heard from them since and they still deliver to me.

Had this on a 'signature required 'package with a well known courier Told them I was not paying their clearance fee, they told me I wouldn't get my package. I asked them where the depot was it was being delivered from and they told me about 35 miles away. I asked them how many times they would attempt delivery before giving up and they said 3 so I told them to waive the fee or do a nice trip of 210 miles in total to deliver the package. They reconsidered
Haven't delivered anything since to me though

I bought some clear lenses for the front of my Honda a few years back.
Paid £6 for the items, £20 to post them, and another £34 in tax and handling charges!
Should have paid the £40 they go for here! Nightmare!

The duty rate depends on what the goods are. They should also add VAT on as well, so if they've missed that then I would keep quiet. If you let me know what the goods are I can tell you the duty rate.
