Default Vehicle checks online???

Anyone know of any sites that provide some free checks like a mini HPI or similar?

Just want some simple info about a car I'm interested in.

Cheers

Try this one..... As most free things, not the most up-to-date, but as you will see from examples below it does show if it has the info.

(When you use link, go up to your tool bar and replace existing reg with the one you want to enquire about, rather than signing up)

A car I was looking to buy, but brought another scoob instead, lol

A friends car that was then sold on Ebay, apparently perfect

If you have any doubt, it is worth paying for a HPI report just for peice of mind.

The RAC used to have a page which told you the number of previous owners, for free. They just look up the make and model now

When you think about it, it is a bit of disgrace that you have to pay for this information. All this info is collected by the DVLA, who then sell the information on to companies, who then sell it back to you. The DVLA is, of course, publicly funded, this information should be freely available in the public domain.

I might have to start a e-petition about it - Seems to be the way to moan about something you don't like these days.

Yes thanks mate, showed up the car I was interested in as a cat D which I was expecting.

Cheers

Just trying to find some way of mileage verification now. Its a peugeot so I phoned a peugeot dealer but they said I'd need to phone the dealer network that carried out the servicing but I don't know if its had any services and if so, where???

Cheers for the link tho

Digging up an old thread here, but does anyone know of a free site that shows number of owners and last change of owners?

I used to use the RAC site, but that doesn't work anymore..... The other links in this thread no longer work.
