Minor news, but buried, so I thought I'd post it.

I look forward to seeing thing fly in the future! Will no doubt be one of the highlights at numerous airshows over the coming years.
Nice to see the some ex-tories are showing an interest in the country's history - there'd be no interest to Bliar or crash Gordon - they're probably opening another new mosque or immigrants wellfare centre somewhere

The day that 558 returns to the skys is getting closer!
Glad to see that Baroness Thatcher has recognised those who flew the Vulcans in the Falklands conflict, and also those who are returning XH558 to the air.
I understand that a party are visiting XM655 this weekend for a systems refresher on an aircraft that isn't in bits!!

Discovery or Nat Geo have just had a Wings weekend, and they covered the Vulcan to some length.
Never realised it had a "one button" starts everything up option. How impressive was that
I've still got about four hours worth of stuff to watch as well.

You read about the plans in place in case of war, the dispersal of the aircraft from their home bases in case of war with the Soviets, the crew being a short sprint from their aircraft, knowing that if they had to press that start button in anger, there is a very small chance of there being anything left for them to come back to if they managed to survive their mission.
Very sobering.
From the political point - Labour wouldn't have any interest in that Aircraft because they were too busy kissing CND **** and wanting to sell us out to their Socialist bothers behind the Iron Curtain.

They were hoping to fly in June, but there is no further news about that so far. It will cost £30K just for the fuel for the initial airtest!
Yes the Mass Rapid start was very impressive. We could get 4 Vulcans parked by the runway airborne within 2 minutes of the alert being given. That included starting the engines and all the aircraft systems. We used to demonstrate that at air displays like the Battle of Britain displays at Finningley etc. It was a bit bumpy if you were number four in the stream from all the turbulence caused by the others!
