Default free ebay sniper software recommendations please

can anyone recommend free sniper software for ebay use please? i don't buy much on there; the odd gadget, bits for my lambretta and a few bits for my impreza now and then so not a frequent user of ebay if that makes a difference

I only use AuctionSniper... first 3 wins are free... then you pay a small amount per successful snipe. For every person you get to sign up and use the site you get 3 more free snipes.
If you want the link let me know

Cool

I use Hammersnipe. The free service gives you 3 free snipes a week, sniping is 10-20 seconds before the end of the auction.

I have successfully sniped with it many times.

If you want to use it more, you can pay, so you get unlimited snipes and it snipes much closer to the end of the auction.

eBay Snipe, eBay Bidding Software, eBay Sniping -- Hammertap.com

Is there any point, is it not just easier to bid at the closing moments anyway ?

Always worked for, and never missed a bid yet

I've never really got the point of sniping .

Bid the most you're prepared to pay for the item early, and your bids get priority over later bidders up to your limit. You won't win an auction just because you snipe, only if you're prepared to pay more than the limit that the other bidder has set for themselves.

But people who have done that may then come back and up their previous max bid. It's human nature to compete and people think 'it's just a bit more'. If you snipe then you eliminate this.

Problem arises if you are bidding on an auction that ends when you are not avilable to watch it though, for instance, I work outside 90% of the time so can't access the internet
