I got a good deal on some Zymol, so every sunday during the summer I sit outside and use the shampoo, then clay bar, then zymol wax for a fantastic mirror finish
Takes hours, but the results are fantastic

I will post a picture of my Ammo Boots tomorrow. ![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Normal black kiwi polish is the best you can use. There is a use for parade gloss - but I liken it to a wax, rather than a polish![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Sonic' - I can get that finish on any pair of dull leather shoes with nothing more than a 90p tin of kiwi black![Stick Out Tongue](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
The technique you use depends mostly on the type of leather the shoes are, the finish you want, and how often you want to re-do them. Of course everything I will say only applies to what I consider 'proper' leather shoes - not treated, or painted leather.
If we have any Guardsmen on here, I instantly bow to their superiour knowledge!

Kiwi or Cherry Blossom are as good as you can get I think. Kiwi might just have the edge perhap's. Regular use will extend the life of the shoes significantly too as well as maintaining their appearance.

In our supermarket, up here in St Helens, they sell little plastic boxes with a sponge in the middle. The sponge is specially treated with stuff.
I take the lid off, rub the special sponge on the shoe and it is shiny
Gone are the days of various cloths, tins of gunk, dirty fingers and lost time... ![Thumb](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif)
I dont know if this invention is available out of St Helens but if you shop around, these ingenious devices can be bought for as little as 59pence!!!

These things contain silicone - fine if you want a quick shine - bad if you want to feed, preserve and protect the leather. If any shoe is treated with this type of product you can forget ever getting a proper polish on the shoe again.
As for what is in shoe polish - generally it a mixture of petrolium products and natural ingedients such as bees wax and vegetable based oils.
