Default Budget satnav recommendations

(yes I did search!)

Looking for a in-car satnav system (doesn't need to be portable) that can be updated with speed camera information & new maps.

Only for the UK.

Don't really want to spend more than £150 - cheaper the better.

I'd need to be able to source a second mount point as it'll be used in two cars.

Take a look at Buy PDA / Pocket PC / GPS / Satnav online including Tomtom, HP, Palm, Dell, TiBo, Navman, Route 66, i-Mate, Mio, Magellan and AA : TotalPDA – your on-line source.

I've just brought a manufacturer refurbished tom-tom one for £120. Cracking service, next day delivery!

Plenty of offers on there too!!

Cheers.

I bought a (portable)Navman F20 ...£108 online from Dixons...speed camera database preloaded as well...which has proved to be 100% accurate so far.

You can get a new TomTom One online for about 140 delivered. amazon.com if I remmebr correctly. Done the search on pricerunner.com
I was going to get it, but Comet done a deal last bank hol, 160 with a free case. So that worked out the same as getting the TomTom online (140) and sourcing the case myself (20).

With either the F20 or the Tomtom one - do I have to pay for the updated maps & scamer information or are both freely available to download?

Tom Tom map updates are free via your PC, unless you mean Foreign maps, which you will have to pay for. As far as I know, there is a lot more extra's freely available on the net for TomTom's.

Is that the old ones or the version 2's? Version 2's are slimmer than a 1.

Went for the F20 110+/- from amazon.

Managed to acquire the "connectivity" software.

Just got to find some decent scamera maps now.
