I'm a consultant but it's my company so the charge out rate is also my call ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
When I go in for other companies, though, they normally charge me at between £2100 and £2600 a day, plus expenses. Unfortunately my charge is nearly an order of magnitude less. Though if I feel they're taking the **** I load it accordingly.
Best one was an American company. I didn't want the job anyway - flying to and from the US three or four times a month for a couple of days at a time was crap - so I quoted a stupidly high day rate. And spent the next five months flying backwards and forwards to the US... Christ knows what they charged me out at, but it must have been an awful lot...

I was getting charged out at around 1050 a day, usually upto 20 days at a time
Now its about 500,
Depends on the work I do really, some of it is cheaper, if it is cr@ppy work
if sex is involved then I pay them

Apparently the Barristers keep getting caught with the secretaries
You would think that they are barristers, they would be a bit smarter and not carry out their antics in the video conferencing suite we installed

I'm probably charged at around £1200pd, but I get around half that and it's long term - as in at least 12 month contracts.
For specialist products or technologies I know some people get charged out at up to £5000 a day, but even they would be lucky to get £800-£1000 per day as a contractor for that.
What makes me laugh are the consulting companies that charge people out at anywhere from £1200-£2500 a day but pay the dumb permanent scmucks £38000pa.

Between £750 and £1000 depending on where in the world it is and which sector (oil and gas are high as are pharmaceuticals, commodity chemicals are low). Again, not the highest here but I am 'utilised' for 80% of the year. That keeps the company happy!
Again, I only see a percentage of that fee
I do get a company Skoda though ![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

UB it isnt about what we earn in any world, let alone an imaginary one
What we get charged out at and what we earn, you will find out are generally in the main two very very different figures
If in my case for example, I earnt what I get charged out at the company wouldnt make any money, not when you add in car costs, pension, holidays, sickness etc

I don't think that is true: The amount of money charged to a client is not proportionate to the amount of money earned by the person being charged out. You charge whatever you can get away with and pay as little as you can.
The higher rates are normally charged by software companies with bespoke packages and the individual could not hope to earn as much as they are billed to clients as they wouldn't have access to the market.
