Does anyone have to use a script when answering the phone at work?

If your phone is one of the latest hand sets you should be able to record a set message. That way if Daniel ***** from accounts phones you can ignore him and phone back when its convenient.

I had to do all that sort of stuff 15 odd years ago, until I got to the point where I never answered 'hunt groups'.
Its much nicer just picking up the phone and saying your name only.
I do feel for people, when you call and they are out of breath by the time they have got through the stupid spiel.

"Upminster I.E.C.C, signaller speaking"
And if you dont, they do random voice audits your in deep trouble.
There is a whole host of things i HAVE to say to the letter
Also you can receive up to 200 calls on a busy day

As I don't speak very good Thai, I generally don't have to answer the phone![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
If someone rings me on the mobile they get either a 'hello' or a 'what', depending on what mood I'm in

About 7 years ago, they introduced one where I used to work "Welcome to O2 member services national accounts, Abdabz speaking how can I help you?" and when you were finished "Thankyou for calling O2, is there anything else I can help you with"... ![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
"Member services"... I felt like a member just saying it... As for "anything else I can help you with"... 99.9999% of customers chuffing hated it me included!
I refused to do it... I told my "supervisor", (nothing super about her I can tell you) that my customer service skills lay in my personal style and approach (no not a rude type) and I wouldn't be a battery hen.![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I got promoted soon after and got away from the customer service 'shop floor'
