just managed to get up in the attic as the reception went very poor, I have noticed that there is a 3 way type connector that the aerial fits into. My question is why are there 2 cables going into this connector and one coming out. Would it help reception if I bought a newer better quality one if such a thing exists.
I have tries disconnectiing and cleaning the existing one plus the cable connectors themselves it has made things better but not crystal clear.
any suggestions would be great

I have just had a blazing row with the wife over the self-same subject at 08:00 this morning because sprog couldn't get cbbc on the tv ![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
Atmospherics is likely to be causing you temporary reception issues, as it is with us. Your picture will return.
How do you explain to a wife who is technically incompetant that sunspot activity is causing interference in the ionisphere which means that tv radio waves are deflected leading to loss of picture?
And it still not be my fault (1) and something I can do about (2)![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)

It may be a bit of corrosion in the connectors. Might be worth getting another connector which is one way only if the three way is not used for anything else. The best way always is to have the coax going directly into the aerial without a connector anywhere. It may be difficult to get all the corrosion out of the connector too. If it is not possible to connect the coax directly into the aerial I would be tempted to renew the plugs on the coaxes and the connector and when you plug them in again to put some vaseline inside the connector to prevent further corrosion. That is by far the best stuff to use.
