This is probably a stupid question but.......
If I buy an all-in-one cinema system (currently looking at the Pioneer DCD-353 which is a multi-region dvd player plus 5 speakers) then will I only get the 5.1 surround sound when I'm playing a DVD??? Will I just have the normal tv speakers work when I'm watching cable or video?
Thanks.

I've got a Sony DAV-S800 and that has three auxiliary inputs, two stereo phono and one optical digital.
I have the video plugged into one of the phono inputs, the digibox into the other. Can then get stereo / pseudo surround / Dolby Pro-Logic from the digibox and video using suitable modes on the all in one.
I also have my PS2 and streaming media player plugged into the optical input via a switch as these can do 5.1.
Just need the right cables assuming your Pioneer choice has some aux inputs
