Default gap security clifford alarm rant

so when i first got my classic sti i thought id spend the money on a good alarm and had gap security fit a clifford 950 with tracker and all the bells and wistles after 4 months the remote engine start packed up so they sent a fitter out to replace it but he didnt do as good a job as before and there is wires every were in my engine bay so i tidyed them up so that pissed me off

so yeasterday the little blue l.e.d stoped working so i rang them and said what was wrong the women says how long ago was it fitted i said not sure may be a year but they come with a life time garentee then she says only if you have it serviced once a year so i said how much it that £150 to service it i mean the whole ******* alarm coat me about 1200 less than a year ago then they want £150 to service it how do you service an alarm ffs?! and if you dont have it done you life time warrenty isnt worth **** they dont tell you this when there ******* sell you it do they well they do in the small print!! any way it worked out i hadnt had it a year yet so its covered by the 1 year warrenty so they are sending a fitter out at some point to replace it

Speak to MotorG Raf (use the search for his moniker) see if he can help.
Why/how do you service an alarm,i've got a clifford concept 600 (had it for 4 years) and no mention of servicing was mentioned.

I found out about the servicing bit when I had a problem with mine.

I can't complain too much I paid less for my alarm than their buy price!!!

couple of quick phonecalls an I had traced the problem and had a fix (even if I had to fix it myself).

Sadly I didn't fix it well enough, and the reappeared when I was doing 70 down the A1, thankfully I managed to coast to a layby, before the truck behind me hit me. 45 mins later and I fixed it good and propper.

Nothing wrong with Clifford alarms, just the amateurs (ie the above mentioned company ) that fits them !
Use a decent installer and wont have any problems !

4 cars owned by me with cliffords already fitted. 4 times I wish I hadn't bothered.

My mums MX5, brand new out of the factory. My father had a concept 300 fitted. after about 18 months, false alarms on average once a fortnight.

So thats 5 cars all fitted by different people and you still reckon they're good alarms

Sigma all the way for me

Servicing?? What a load of b? Bit of WD40 on any additional plunger switches, and that's it surely.

My Scoob still went despite a Cat 1 alarm & Disklok mate, sorry... But I did enter the Fifth Gear competition a ridiculous fivers worth tonight I still pine...
