my words on seeing that aren't postable.

The irony is that allowing those things on city roads damages the reputation of truely safe small cars which results in idiots driving X5's to shuttle their one kid and two pints of milk from Waitrose around.

Thumbs down

This was on the Radio 4 news earlier.

The man from the plastic toy car company told us that safety tests were irrelevant because their 'cars' could only manage 10 mph and were therefore safe. So what happens when the old fart, or trendy young green thing, both notoriously incompetent when it comes to road craft and who will be the likely owners of such vehicles pulls out in front of a proper car?

Carnage, that's what. And of course the government will blame it on the speed the other vehicle was travelling at thus reinforcing their argument that we should all travel in plastic, battery powered prams at not more than 10mph (for our own safety of course)

Contrasted to the crash vids for the Smart, that is on par with the Rover Metro (which ceased production after the media highlighted its poor crashworthyness...only took 18years though ).

Now all we need is the crash data for those Aixams/Tasso/Chatenet/Microcar things driven by cotton buds, that I keep getting stuck behind

Hmmm, one in town up near sixfields in traffic, two chavs on board, no helmets, rider chav was kicking the back end out and generally behaving like a knobber in busy traffic.

I wouldn't mind one for a bit of fun but the images now is just chav-charriot!

I wonder how long it will be before they get banned on the roads due to the ****wit minority

as long as you know what you are getting its fine. wheres the footage for a crash test on a bike/motorbike/moped?

you buy a g-wizz you know you die if you crash - if you arent keen on that you buy a "proper" car. Good info to be out in the public domain but no reason to alter the car itsef.

Agreed, do you really expect to survive if you had a significant crash in something that size anyway? You take the risk

I'd quite like to see the g-wizz put through it's paces by the Stig on the Top Gear track

Depends, compared to a Smart, which is an extremely tough little roller-skate, you would happily survive heavy impacts, in some cases the occupants of the other car (asuuming head on) could sufffer more injury than the smart driver.

smart Canada extra > smart + safety > In the event of... > Video clips
YouTube - smart car crash (typical inaccturate 5th gear; if you lose control at 70mph, you usually crash at 40mph, unless you were sleeping whilst driving - still very impressive)

Yip, the Smart is an example of how to do a micro-car right in my opinion, and the G-Whizz is the example of how to **** it up.

Harsh fact is though, that the weak point in any car safty now is the passengers.

Have you notices though how those Aixams sound EXACTLY like a sewing machine?!! The price staggers me too, why don't people just buy a 1 year old proper little car?

Awful aren't they?

In some EU markets there is a 3cyl diesel option....You hear this clattering of what seems to be a large tractor approaching, you turn around and find its one of these Aixam noddy cars; Never have I heard such a small car make so much (unintended) noise.

We have these at work. I've refused to get in them cos they're paper thin [and they are quite frankly sh!te].

That Keith Johnson was talking out of his @rse as ours travel at breakneck speed [looking at the vid that's anything over 3mph]. Even at 10mph it depends on the other vehicle speed as well.

Always a great geen idea till the first bad accident then you'll get the "I told you so" lobby banging on.

Not sure if I understand your point regarding X5's. Considering you drive an Impreza that emits more pollution than an X5, the X5 is a greener choice to do the school run in than an impreza.
