I think you're probably right. Having said that, a 0.5% rise wouldn't shock me. After all, it is a big news day.

Pretty obvious it will be 5.5 by the end of the day and 6 at least by the end of the year.

Should get the message across and with a little luck be back to 5.5 by this time next year.

The might go for 0.5 today to try and make headlines and shock people into stop spending. Unfortunately it wont work cos fat Gordo and his tax increases is the main cause of inflation anyway

Hmmm, Blair about to give a major speech at almost the exact same time the BoE announces the interest rate decision. The cynic in me wonders if Labour already know there's going to be a 0.5% rise and are hoping it gets lost in all the Blair/Brown leadership succession headlines tonight and tomorrow.

.25% today with another .25% in a few months. With a final .25% for the year by November.
