Default Interest Rates at a 6 Year High

Whilst nowhere near the horrific levels they were under the previous Government - do they worry you?

I simply cannot believe that an extra £16 a month on a mortgage of £100,000 will make ANYONE stop spending?

I am guessing that it's the 'Trend' that starts people thinking? Rather than the actual amount?

I remember rates at 15% - yes, 15% - so, this current small rate is trifling, however, the long term average has been around 8%.

So, I would suggest, we have a way to go - trouble is that everyone feels really well off and continue spending.

It's not the cost of one rate rise people won't be able to afford, it's the cumulative effect of several rate rises. Also if you're a landlord they're on about regular green 'hips', the same as the pack they want to introduce for selling houses. All this will mean a big slowdown in property prices if many landlords have had enough and sell up.

Hello Steve by the way

Ignoring the fact most companies will present just a few IP addressed to the internet ? So 1 person gets banned and whole organisations lose access.

Or that many people @ home still get dynamic IP addresses ?

Not really a very good plan is it....

It doesn't have to be that complicated. MrRee is clearly pslewis so why don't the mods just ban the MrRee account if they really want to stop pete for a while.

Why was he banned anyway?

If you take a look at the Bank of England stats, you can see that interest rates weren't particularly low in the 70's when Labour were in power then.

Oh, and you'll also see that interest rates started to fall when the Tories were still in power.

Nope, the MAC address is unique. The IP address may be dynamic, which is the case for most people as it allows pooling of IP addresses as it's unlikely all your customers will be online together. You can have a fixed IP address which is useful for some things, I have a fixed IP addy for my Mail Server.
