For those of you who remember the little 5 year old who was mauled to death by her uncle's Pit Bull terrier, he has today been jailed for 8 weeks
The Police should have shot him when they shot the ******* dog, I am a dog lover (I have a Boxer) but 8 weeks that is pathetic![Mad](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/mad.gif)
Cheers

Considering what happened he should have got the full 6 months and £5000 fine... How much worse can it be than to own a banned dog (thats been illegal for 15 years now in this country) that was so violent it finished it's life mauling to death a member of the family...
It sends out a message to all other illegal dog owners that unless your dog actually kills a child, the chances of you going to jail for it are zero...
**** Poor...

IMHO, owning a banned dog like this should equate to possessing an illegal weapon and sentences should match, especially if said dog caused harm.
I remember when i was in the forces, the dog handlers had similar rules of engagement as to releasing their dogs onto somebody as they did to opening fire with their side arm. Well maybe not quite as prohibitive but not far off. They had to issue a warning in exactly the same manner to release their dog as they would in opening fire. Replacing ".. or I'll fire" with ".. or I'll release my dog"
So if dogs in the military can be deemed as a weapon then why not for these kinds of dogs.

Week or so ago an ex priest got just 5 years for fiddling with 5 boys, it just makes a mockery of the system and is not a deterrant.
