Depends what you want if for, I got a Gunson one from Halfords for about a tenner, does the car stuff I need as well as checking batteries and usual DIY home stuff.

Theese are good, also with open jaw current reading up to 100A.

^^^^^ Wot ee said. Or similar. They're so cheap these days that NOT getting one that does everything is the expensive way to go ...

So, AC, DC and resistance. An audible *continuity* check is a handy thing for checking fuses etc.
