Are you running a scart lead from sky box to tv. If so is it a cheapo one, as it makes a world of difference if you spend £40 or more on a quality Scart lead.

What input are you using? Dodgy old ariel? Sky box? Freeview digital? As above, are you using a £2 ASDA SCART lead?
With a good digital source and a decent SCART lead, you should be getting a great picture.

Have you got a good digital source you can try it with such as a DVD with HDMI or an Xbox 360?
Samsung are up there with the 2 market leaders, Panasonic and Pioneer, defnitely good quality and a tier above the also-rans such as Sony, LG, Philips etc.

If the previous CRT TV was fine, can't see there should be much of an issue with the aerial/ source (local TV shop bloke I know just bought himself two new big TVs - guess what, he's bought CRTs as he spends a lot of time replacing peoples' aerials etc before they realise that the plasma sets they've bought aren't as good).
Not saying better connecting wires wouldn't make a difference - but there shouldn't be grey lines down the screen!

i think i have the same model but mine is C instead of Q
as far as i know the only difference is yours should have a gloss black case and mine is matt black
the dnlie or whatever its called is only accessible via the service menu, search the av forums for the code, the PIP i believe only works if you are using a hdmi input device >?
the screen looked awesome in the shop, especially as they had mine setup next to a samsung 40" lcd running the same high def feed at the time and the lcd looked poor.
the grey lines thing, to me sounds like its broken, do they show if you go to the screen burn options and select "white screen" ?

I wouldnt listen to alot of people opinions on whats good and whats not! I have both LG and Panasonic 1 LCD one Plasma! Get yourself over to avforums and get some advice there (as a few said the scart cable quality has alot to do with it).

I disagree, mine looks good. Some channels are better than others. BBC1 is much better quality than ITV, for example.
It may be a myth about gold plated leads etc., but cheap, badly made leads definately make the pic quality worse. I used to get a lot of pixellation and striation until I got a decent SCART. The difference was very clear, even the Mrs agreed it was worth spending £20 on a decent lead after I'd swapped it.

Just spent two weeks in a hotel room with an LCD and now I'm home my plasma looks astounding. Couldn't believe the greyness of blacks and the pixelation
Agree with everyone over the leads. No need to spend hundreds, but 20 to 50 quid is wise. If you don't have HDMI then make sure you're using component at the very least. RGB via scart will compromise quality. An upscaling DVD player with HDMI connectivity will improve things further, perhaps something like a Sony 860 with Freeview, HDD and DVD recording.
Remember, the larger screen size increases the size of signal/source imperfections as well as the rest of the image, so although the picture may well be better, it may appear worse due to the exageration of any flaws previously less noticeable.

Scart lead might be your problem, but it could be that it doesnt have fully individual screened cables. Easiest way is to remove either pin17 or 19(cant remember which is video in/out) on the scart plug. This stops any video signal that is being sent out from the tv scart interfering with the incoming video signal
