Strange message left on my voicemail
My Moby rang at 01.50 this morning, I didn't pick it up as I didn't recognise the number5 but the caller left the following message
"Just returning your call, er, I think its in your best interest to call be back on 07********* otherwise I will have to tell your wife"
I rang the number from work this morning and it was the same prsons voice on the end of the line, I asked their name but they wouldn't say who they were and they left the line open for a few minutes before hanging up.
Now as far as i'm aware I have nothing to hide from the wife, so it could be a wrong number or just some saddo randomly ringing around or possibly some sort of scam.
Anyway it p*ssed me off all the same and I want to know who this clown is and what it is they think they have on me, I am tempted to call him from my mobile at 2 in the morning and return the favour, other than that has anyone got any good idea's for a return call be it from my mobile or elsewhere ??

I'm thinking premium rate number here, or possibly someone with a wrong number - once had a guy phone me 6 times one day looking for his mate, he was adamant that this was his number and after the 2nd call we figured out he had 2 digits the wrong way round, still didn't stop him calling me another 4 times though!!
But the way you say they left the line open for a few minutes before hanging up - definately sounds like some sort of scam going on here.

He was stuttering on the voice message which was interspersed with um's and ah's, probably heard a male voice and was frantically thinking what to say so used the "wife" routine just so i'd call back and earn him £1.50.

I wouldn't worry about it to be honest. It's easy to make a mistake. We once had an African woman who left a message to say 'Michael, hurry back with those lemons' ?!?!? The weird thing is that's my name! Complete fluke! (checked the number etc).
I also had a call from Scotland at a similar time one morning, saying they don't know how they will get home and can they have a lift, I said 'Sorry, I live in Barnsley and don't even know you so it's not going to happen!'

I googled the number and nothing has come back saying anything about a scam. Funnily enough I googled my own number and it returned 2 results

I can beat that, I've some crazy woman who tells everyone she lives at my address. I had BT giving me a hard time yesterday as she was having a new line installed! The mothercare stuff she had delivered went down well though! Crazy bint doesn't even know where she lives (I do though )
P.S. Joking about the mothercare stuff I managed to get hold of her and tell her to collect it and stop telling the gas/electricity/bank/Orange/Mothercare/credit card she lives with me - if my wife finds out

I just rung it and after ringing 6 times, it went through to the O2 v/mail service.
I left him a message which said "just returning your call, and I think its in your best interest to call be back otherwise I will have to tell your wife that you're in a gay relationship with Funkii Munkii"

Now as far as i'm aware I have nothing to hide from the wife, so it could be a wrong number or just some saddo randomly ringing around or possibly some sort of scam.

You were pretty cagey about ringing from work and not from home ...... Maybe you have more to hide than you are letting on
