Shaver
What would you recommend?
Not too interested in the marketing hype surrounding this moisturising cream bollox that you put on an electric shaver .............. I am a MAN!!
A shaver that will do the job, well, without soppy marketing crap .... ideas?
Philishave seem to have build quality issues at the moment.

IMO you can't beat the quality and speed of a Mach (wet shave) what ever the number is.
Had the philips thing that spat out cream to help, yer right it helped, never got on with it, didn't shave as close as a Mach so went back to that.

A lot of people react that way. If you genuinely have shaking hands then I suspect it might not be such a good idea, but really the only reason people ever stopped using straight razors in the first place was because of clever marketing by Gillette/Schick etc. Shaving with a straight isn't all that hard once you get the hang of it.
Maybe consider a double edge safety razor if straights are not for you. Something like a Merkur Hefty Classic, not too expensive, blades are ridiculously cheap compared to modern cartridges - and they shave better.

Btw, no, I don't work for Classicshaving, I just use them quite often.

I do have the previous top senstronic phillishave and it's great for convenience, one of the best dry shave's i have had
Funny enough i have been thinking of getting a cut throat razor as i do miss the old wet shaves but hate being shafted by gillette each time i use the thing

Hmm, I bought one of those vibrating Mach 3 things after seeing all the marketing hype and thinking that I'd give it a go.
It's wet shaving for people who can't wet shave. It needs the complete absence of skill of an electric, and it feels like one too. It doesn't have any sort of precision.
Once the (expensive) blades run out I'll probably go back to a twin-blade Bic disposable.

Always liked the manual Mach 3 (non vibrating) with Proraso soap - gives me a nice clean shave everyday. I find the blade the right size, the newer ones are far too big to be precise.

Well, I've ordered this:-
Remington Diamond Series Rotary Shaver, R530 - John Lewis
Seems a reasonable price?

Blowtorch?

No. if you look very carefully, you will see that it is, in fact, a shaver

Always used to use Gillette Mach 3 - just about every version...
got a Wilkinson Sword Quattro sent through as a freebie a few months ago and not looked back since - much better than a Mach 3 IMHO.

Much better than any other razor I've used but I still need an electric "pre-shave" to avoid slicing my face to bits.
