Suggestions for a relaxing beach holiday that doesn't cost the earth
Hi All,
Looking to get away from it all for a while with the GF. Would like somewhere with nice beaches, a relaxing, safe atmosphere, maybe with a bit of luxury! Would have loved to have gone to Atlantis, but it's just way too pricey at the moment....Damn!!
Obviously this kind of holiday isn't going to be dirt cheap, but if anyone has some good suggestions as to suitable locations and good places to book with, I'd be grateful.
Thanks,
Ns04

When we were looking earlier in the year, Turkey and the Greek Islands were both at the cheaper end of the spectrum, ignoring the magical mystery tour type holidays.

It's a long flight but Goa can be cheap as well.

My 2p worth - Sable d'or les Pins in Brittany. Great beach, great local food and wine, cheap as chips. Downside is that it's Brittany so you run the risk of not so good weather and it's not really five star.
Hire a Gite, take the car over on the ferry and bring back a bootfull of local wine

lykia world hotel in Turkey. Been there twice now. Good food, excellent beach (pebbly though) and loads of pools. Should be able to do it in about £1k if its not half term etc.

A bit of a drive to the beach, but this is one of the best places I've ever stayed in if you like France - About 1.5 hours from Bordeaux airport.
Villa and B&B near Atlantic surfing beaches SW France
And we loved this in Portugal literally ON the beach - About an hour (max) from Lisbon:
Portugal Golf - Pracetas.

Hi Ns 04,
Check out olu deniz in turkey, has a fantastic beach and lagoon, its in a protected area so no concrete jungle and is just unreal,we went there on our honeymoon ten years ago and taking the kids next year.
You can also go paraglyding fom a couple of k's up the mountains,we did it twice and i cant really describe what it was like, just breathtaking and i'm afraid of heights, just make sure you keep off the beer the night before and have a clear head.
Go and youtube it you wont be disapointed.
Cheers

New_scooby_04, Egypt seems to be pretty cool according to a few friends that have been recently.
It has an added bonus of their love for American dollars, which we can get at quite a good rate at present
Accommodation and flights are reasonably priced, especially when you consider most hotels are 5*

In all honesty mate I've never been a nicer place than Trearddur Bay on Anglesey. We've not long come back from a short break there and i'm seriously considering trying to get a job at the local powerstation so i can move there. Atleast most people here speak English and there no chance of massive delays due to somebody trying to blow the airport up.
