'reprimands'...... read on:
So £75,000 pounds worth of damage and they get a 'reprimand' ...... wow, that'll teach them then
Thirteen youths arrested after Harry Potter's train, the Hogwarts Express, was vandalised have received reprimands from police.
They used hammers to break the toughened glass of 375 windows on a number of trains at the West Coast Railway Company depot in Carnforth, Lancashire, on March 10.
The total damage to the trains was believed to be £75,000, according to British Transport Police.

Er, yes, something needs to be done, 75K worth of deliberate damage, this should go punished. A repremand is a joke and an insult to decent folks, it hardly sends out the right messages.
Oh yes - NL - "Tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime" - just keeps coming back to kick them in the ***, shame they did not mean it and we get to suffer for it!

BFBS radio news this morning reported that Gordon Brown is planning on changing the voting system in the UK so that the conservatives NEVER get back into power, anyone else heard this?

Those youths should have a public birching-a really painful one too, and then be made to pay off the damage for as long as it takes.

Having said that i feel like that about Cameron, as thr lesser of two evils I currently would vote Conservative as then seem the only real oppostition.
NL has had 10 years to do good and fails in 99% of cases no matter what the spin says

Heard as in have a link to a reputable source or heard some bloke in the pub? If it's the former I'd be interested in seeing it.

Heard it on BFBS (British Forces Broadcasting Station) on the news this morning, I don't know if the presenter heard it from someone in the pub, but I doubt it

Why on earth would you want to p!ss good money away training society's dregs
I was thinking more along the lines of Cannon Fodder

The kids parents should be issued with an invoice for the damage caused, then if they cannot afford the amount, they should have to serve prison time at a fixed amount per day until the debt is cleared. Either that or wait until the kids are 18 years old and make them serve.
If they are big enough to do the damage, they are big enough to pay for it.

Are you suggesting that lying to the police and courts should not attract any punishment?

And this is the rub and the crux of it, Yes the old man should be punished as he did wrong. A proper telling off for causing 75K's worth of damages is just madness. About time the punishment fitted the crimes and scumbags realised that their actions had repocussions that they are responsible for.
